Elon Musk is warned by the EU's technology chief, who says Twitter must follow our Guidelines.

Finally, Elon Musk has bought Twitter. While some are happy with his takeover, many are concerned about the platform's legitimacy and the rise of misinformation. 

A top European official, who shares Musk's view, has shown fierce notice to the new Twitter CEO just hours after Musk completed the $44 billion transaction.

Thierry Breton, the EU's technology chief, warned Musk on Twitter that the microblogging site would be subject to EU regulations.

Breton traveled to Texas earlier this year in May to meet with Musk on Twitter's free speech policy.

At the time, they had "no disagreement" about their strategy for managing or posting content on Twitter.

He has stated that he does not want Twitter to "devolve into a free-for-all hellscape, where anything may be expressed with no results."

Musk claims that he wants to provide a venue for individuals to debate a wide range of opinions in a healthy manner without resorting to violence.
